Schrader TPMS 90-Degree Stem option

A tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor with 90-degree stem options has been developed for the Schrader Performance Sensors EZ-sensor product line.

Schrader Performance Sensors says the new 90˚ EZ-sensor is the only TPMS sensor that properly fits into aftermarket wheel applications with 90-degree valve holes.

The company plans to offer the new 90˚ EZ-sensor in mid-2018. The sensor will accommodate two stem types, a straight valve and a bent valve to adapt to even more rim types. The aluminum stems will be offered in silver and matte black colors.

The new 90˚ TPMS sensor features the same technology and benefits as Schrader’s EZ-sensor. This patented, programmable technology combines 314.9, 315 and 433 MHz into a single, programmable sensor. The company says the new 90˚ EZ-sensor is OE quality and future-proofed to accommodate new and pending OE technology, like auto-location.

Winter Tyres & TPMS

Winter Tyres & TPMS

The time to change to and from summer and winter tyres is both a geographical and personal decision. Whenever this time maybe it requires a decision to purchase or not to purchase a second set of wheels which also needs to be followed up with the question.

“DO I NEED A SECOND SET OF TPMS?”

At TPMS Warehouse we strongly recommend installing a second set of sensors in your Winter Wheels whether this be cloned sensors* for vehicles which need this option or if your vehicle has the option for a second set of TPMS already installed in the ECU.

** We can clone your original sensors with a unique identification number to avoid costly diagnostic costs whenever you change from summer to winter wheels **

Of Course, there are customers tempted to disable this safety feature, which is potentially life threatening. It has multiple benefits for example:

  • Increased fuel economy
  • Decrease in tyre wear
  • Reduced environmental impact

For a set of winter wheels, we recommend a Rubber snap in valve as this offers further protection against the road salts which can cause the Aluminium valve stems to corrode.

*Speak to one of our sales team to see if we have a rubber valve compatible with your vehicle for this option*

Tyre Pressure Sensor Tips UK

Tyre Pressure Sensor – Safety Economy Performance

Maintaining  the TPMS prevents premature failure and ensures the safety, economy and performance of the vehicle are not compromised due to ignorance.

From Identifying TPMS to Correctly Servicing the system – read our top 5 UK TPMS tips here:

Top 5 TPMS Tips UK

sensor

1. Replacement TPMS

When dealing with replacing TPMS the best trick you can learn is how to diagnose the problem correctly first time every time. If the TPMS is faulty you can quickly clone the original and replace it in under 5 minutes using a universal programmable TPMS.  This means stocking just one sensor to suit almost every car or van.

2. Freeing Corroded TPMS

When the TPMS is seized due to corrosion it can be very difficult to remove without damaging the sensor. most tyre bays will force the stem and break the sensor, but often with a little penetrating oil such as WD-40 the stem can be worked loose without damaging the sensor, once removed the sensor can often be fitted with a new stem and service kit.

3. Relearn Procedures

When fitting new sensors or rotating the wheels on some vehicles the TPMS system may require a relearn procedure to be carried out – All our tools have relearn procedures built into the software so you can quickly resolve the situation and have the relearn procedure to hand.

4. Quickly Identify Vehicles with TPMS Sensors

Vehicles registered after November 2014 will all have a TPMS System. However some use an indirect method (via the ABS) – if the pressure is shown on the dash you can be sure there are sensors in the wheels as the indirect method is not that accurate. Tips for identifying that the vehicle has TPMS Sensors:

  • TPMS warning symbol on the dash during start-up.
  • Live tyre pressure displayed on the dash
  • Tyres can be scanned via TPMS Tool
  • If tyres have a rubber stem check to see if there is a bevel and the rubber coating stops before reaching the threads when the cap is removed.
  • If the tyres have a metal stem.

5. Correct service items must be used

Metal dust caps are to be avoided as they are the number one cause for premature failure, causing metal to metal corrosion. Another common cause for premature failure is the wrong valve cores being used, TPMS stems must use Nickel plated electro-less cores to prevent corrosion. Normal Copper and Brass valve cores must not be used.

Every time the tyre is removed from the rim follow the manufacturer guidance and use a service kit to service perishable items – they usually include a plastic cap, valve core, nut, seals and washers. If the stem is damaged either replace with a new stem or if a stem isn’t available replace the entire sensor.

Why it is important to look after the TPMS

The main thing to remember is preventative maintenance, this will ensure long service life and helping the vehicle owner save money in the long run.

Tyre rotations and repairs can cost money due to the TPMS but the benefits include higher fuel efficiency, better handling, extended tyre life and shorter stopping distances.

Maintaining  the TPMS prevents premature failure and ensures the safety, economy and performance of the vehicle are not compromised due to ignorance.

Tech – Aston Martin TPMS Smartire / Beru

TPMS Fault on Aston Martins

If you own an Aston Martin with TPMS made prior to 2012, there is a high likelihood that the original TPMS on the vehicle was manufactured by SmarTire; whilst a small number may have Huf Beru Sensors.

smtr

What to do when there is a TPMS fault on an Aston Martin

First follow the diagnosing procedure.

If the diagnosing procedure indicates an issue with the wheel sensors, then you need to check which manufacturer sensors you have on the vehicle.

Aston Martin TPMS Smartire Sensors

SmarTire products are no longer available in the passenger vehicle market and the company has ceased support for this product category.

Parts may be available at your local dealer, however, we have no inventory to support service parts and there is no after market product that is compatible with the system used.

Our advice is to speak to your dealer or consider fitting a retrofit TPMS system to replace the OEM parts.

We do not advise running your vehicle without TPMS.

Information for garages

Information for garages

They’re coming your way!

Garages, tyre service centers and retailers must already start preparing for the fact that the growing number of vehicles with direct TPM Systems will increase the time required for tire service operations.

information for garages

Special consideration when fitting tires and wheels with valve-based sensors
If the customer’s vehicle is equipped with a direct TPMS, the specialist must work carefully when fitting tyres. This is because the sensor, which is fixed to the valve, can easily be damaged if the work is not performed correctly. That is why TPMS-Warehouse recommends using only installation equipment and other aids that have also been certified for use when fitting UHP and run-flat tyres. After installing new sensors, it is necessary to educate them to the system, if you are unsure how your system relearns why not ask our experts? This operation should be performed according to the relevant automotive manufacturer’s instructions.

Fitters must take considerable care when exchanging valve-based sensors. This is because excessive force can irreparably damage the valve stem or the sensor. After the hex nut has been unscrewed, the sensor can be removed from the rim. When a sensor is removed, all the service parts must be replaced. These parts include the hex nut, all the sealing elements, the valve core and the valve cap. TPMS-Warehouse also strongly recommends checking the service parts when a wheel or tyre is changed and replacing them if necessary. However, only the parts present in the corresponding service kit should be used. If conventional valve cores or metal valve caps are used, this can very quickly result in an corrosion between the components. In addition, technicians should observe the torque specifications from the manufacturer to avoid insufficient or excessive hex nuts and other threaded components on the sensors.

With our service and specialty tools you’ll be ideally equipped for the Job!

Relearn Procedure

Are you unsure how your TPMS relearns into your vehicle?

Tyre pressure monitoring sensors relearn differently into different cars.

For example a Chrysler will auto relearn a new sensor ID after a short drive usually between 10 – 15 minutes above 15MPH.

While other cars require OBD diagnostics to program a new sensor into the vehicle, this requires a specialist tool.

Relearn procedure

We use the Autel TS601 with this tool you can write ID’s into the ECU, read ID numbers and run TPMS diagnostics.

Do you require help identifying the relearn procedure for your vehicle?

Land Rover TPMS specialists

Land Rover TPMS Specialists

When your Land Rover TPMS displays an error the first thing to do is stop and diagnose the fault.

If the diagnosis is that the sensor is faulty or that the valve stem requires replacement – we can help!

Land Rover TPMS Relearn Procedure

The original equipment for Land Rover is Schrader – and these can be replaced easily without any expensive diagnostic programming by the dealer. As almost all Land Rover models can be reset and relearned via the dash controls (check your manual for specific instructions).

Bentley TPMS SENSORS HUF BERU

How do I select the right TPMS for my Land Rover?

On our homepage we have a vehicle selector to shortlist your correct model or you can use the registration number search.

We have a range Preprogrammed or Universal Sensors that can be programmed to suit.

Who can fit my Land Rover TPMS Sensors?

Any good tyre specialist can install the sensors onto the wheel.

Outer nut Torque: 4Nm

Inner Screw Torque: 2-2.2Nm

The wheel will require balancing once fitting has been completed.

Then following the relearn procedure in your owner’s manual the sensors will pair to the vehicle.

Can I replace just the Valve Stem?

Yes! We stock the most single valve stems so routine maintenance and repairs can be carried out.

Can I replace the battery?

Please note batteries are non replaceable – bear this in mind when replacing a stem on an aged sensor.  The battery life on an OEM sensor is expected to last 5-7 years however we are witnessing 8-10 years on some lower mileage vehicles!

Why buy from the TPMS Warehouse?

We are a UK based company with almost 10 years experience in Direct TPMS. We offer FREE Delivery as standard to all UK Mainland customers, with guaranteed delivery available at a low cost.
